The issue of call drops and poor quality of services has been a pressing one both for government agencies as well as the service providers.

To provide consumers with information about various parameters of quality of services (QoS), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Wednesday launched a ‘QoS Analysis’ portal on its website analytics.trai.gov.in.

“It is a transparency portal where consumers will get information on all parameters of quality of services (QoS), including call drops, coverage or call quality,” Trai chairman R S Sharma said at the launch of the portal.

The issue of call drops and poor quality of services has been a pressing one both for government agencies as well as the service providers. Trai secretary Sudhir Gupta, who was present at the launch, said that the new portal would help consumers choose between service providers. Apart from data about call drops, which would be sent in to Trai by the operators themselves, the portal also shows details about the occupation of 2G networks across cellular sites.
